India's security protocols :
In India, several VIPs have been provided security. But do you know who decides in our country which VIP, politician, or actor should be given which category of security?
Who decides who will get security?
Now the question is who ultimately decides who will get security and who will not? Tell us that if any VIP person is in danger, providing security is the responsibility of the government. On receiving a threat, the person files an application at the nearest police station, after which the matter is sent to intelligence agencies. When the threat is confirmed, a committee comprising the Home Secretary, Director General, and Chief Secretary of the state decides which category of security should be given to that person. After this, the details of the person are also sent to the Central Home Ministry for formal approval.
Responsibility for VIP security lies with various agencies. These include SPG (Special Protection Group), NSG (National Security Guard), ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force). Meanwhile, 'Z+' category security is provided to extremely important personalities/politicians/players and film stars. NSG provides 'Z Plus' category security to VIPs and VVIPs on a large scale. Many NSG commandos also provide security to the Prime Minister under the Special Protection Group (SPG).
Security Categories
Z+ Category Security - Z+ is the highest category of security in India. It includes security cover for 10+ NSG commandos + police personnel, totaling 55 personnel. Z+ security is provided by NSG commandos equipped with modern weapons and communication devices.
Z Category Security - In the Z category, security cover is provided to 22 personnel, including 4 or 6 NSG commandos + police personnel. This is provided by Delhi Police, ITBP, or CRPF personnel.
Y Category Security - Y category includes security cover for 8 personnel, including 1 or 2 commandos + police personnel. It includes two private security officers (PSOs).
X Category Security - In X category security, security cover is provided to 2 personnel (no commandos, only armed police personnel).
